Embracing the Journey

“The only impossible journey is the one you never begin”

Tonny Robins

College life is known as one of the most memorable years of one’s life. It is entirely different from school life. College life exposes us to new experiences and norms that we were not familiar with earlier. For some people, college means enjoying life to the fullest and partying hard. While for others, it is time to get serious about their career; studying thoroughly for a brighter future.

“My College Life” started when my own and one of the highly recognized educational institutes, Beacon Light Academy, planted the seeds of their A-Level College. Which soon germinated into a whole tree as this organization has got exceptional teachers as their faculty. It was the first time that Edexcel A-Levels was introduced into the market and hence, it was deemed as a strange thing by the students.

As Benjamin Franklin said, “An investment in education pays the best interest,” so I decided to appear for an interview. Knowing the fact that it was the very first year of Beacon Light Academy A-Levels College and things can go wrong, yet I knew that this Academy won’t disappoint me; so I gave an interview. No doubt it went cool, still, I was a bit nervous. To my heart’s content, I cleared the interview. Well if someone else was in my stead, he too, would have chosen to avail the offer which the management of this Institute offered, as scholarship criteria are according to the expectations. Here at Beacon Light Academy, students get a platform that is engaging and compelling amongst young adults; as this Institution is reasonably unique, considerably inclusive and significantly well-crafted that allows students to boost up their interpersonal skills and promotes entirely an independent environment. The good thing is that teachers maintain a streak of healthy discussions among students that fuels cooperation and teamwork. Well, a new era begins…

Cutting a long story short, 15 September 2020 – during such unforeseeable time, where thousands of people lost their lives all around the globe, where there were a series of strict lockdowns – luckily, I stepped into the campus of Beacon Light Academy A-Level.

“Bypassing your IGCSEs you prove that you’re not an idiot; but bypassing your A-Levels, you prove that you’re smart,” Ben Mitchell. My journey of A-Levels (first year) was like a roller coaster: obviously, for a kid who has just enrolled in a college, who has no experience of how things go – he needs some time to settle. The campus was good, not so luxurious but all the stuff that is needed was present. Personally, I’m not a kid who wants luxuries; I feel if the system matches the criteria and provides quality education at an affordable price; then for me, glitz and glamour don’t matter. Being a science student, my priority is “LAB” and I was satisfied from this side too. For some weeks, it was difficult to study effectively as I was trying to understand the strategy of the lecturers – but one thing I would surely mention is that during the hard phase, the management of this Institution showed immense support towards me. Although this quality of being so supportive is very rare nowadays, it was much appreciated.

Things went normal for some time, during which we had some unique and remarkable events held in our college; as they were very important for character building. Due to COVID-19, soon the element of fun went away from our inner self, so to ignite the spark, the head of this Institution planned a picnic.6

The whole batch went to the picnic, as all students were satisfied with their academics and they knew that the teachers are so skilled and experienced, they didn’t skip any bit of the syllabus. I mentioned this picnic is…..it was the day when we got a chance to interact with our teachers in an entirely different manner; not discussing rates of reaction or Newton’s laws of motion, but sharing our thoughts which were wanted to be shared. We all were living that moment, enjoying the sea breeze and the soft feel of damp sand. Oh God! I just miss those moments… Well, it’s a part of this beautiful life which I spent with these people that became a major reason for a stronger bond amongst us.

As I mentioned above, living in 2021 is like playing a game of chance, such unpredictable events happened throughout the session that it hindered our plans and activities. Although the faculty made sure that it didn’t affect our studies, but it still did to some extent as the whole world was in a bizarre situation.

Fast forward, the dates of our Edexcel Board Examination came and put me in a state which is a bit difficult to express. I rolled my sleeves up and faculty motivated me to break the records, so I invested my days in studying. Suddenly, I got the news that due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, examination won’t happen this year. This news sunk me down and I became melancholic during that time period. But thanks to Edexcel and Beacon Light Academy A-Levels College, which conducted vigorous testing under proper guidance, it saved us from the current situation that the students of other boards are going through. So this shows the love, affection and commitment an institute has for its students.

In a nutshell, A-Levels is all about practical thinking and it’s a highly advanced learning program that doesn’t require students to abandon personal interest and pursue rote learning, but instead bridges together a way for students to adapt, understand, acknowledge and formulate knowledge independently in a socially dependent, engineered and the highly modern world.
