Our school does not lack talent and a genuine example supporting this fact is an outstanding 7th grader named Zayan Rizvi. His artworks are mind-blowing and he was given the opportunity to speak up about his journey, to which he gladly agreed.
Due to Zayan’s busy schedule with his recently shifted house though, the interview had to be conducted online (on WhatsApp) but that did not hinder the quality in any way, all because of his determination.
Coordinating on messages, I successfully managed to compile the contents of the text you are about to read. So get ready to be inspired by this young individual and learn how his experiences led him to become a better artist.
“When did you start?”, I asked, starting off with a simple question.
“I first made an artificial hand in class 6 and since then I’ve been making artwork.”
This tiny bit of reply gave away an important piece of information about him. The young man has spent only one year of his life pursuing this hobby.
I further questioned, “What type of artwork do you do?”
“I do different types of artworks but the most common is the making and designing of crossbows.”
This novel piece of news intrigued me and seconds later I found myself asking, “What Does Your Artwork Represent?”
He honestly replied,” If I talk about the crossbows, they represent self-defense, but my other artworks, such as the artificial hand, mask, or novel, they don’t represent much.”
“I see. Does it represent anything about you then?”, I wondered and asked at the same time.
”Yes, it represents my creativity but nothing other than that.”, Zayan answered
I continued the interview and inquired, “What inspires you Zayan?”
“It’s hard to find things that inspire me but few artworks, like the crossbows, are inspired by games. The others are original ideas.”
“What connection do you have to your art?”
“My art is an accomplishment to me for making my mind’s idea into reality”
“Sounds fun! What Does Your Art Mean to You?”
“My art is like an experiment to me and if it is successful in becoming what I want then I keep it as a trophy for making my idea into reality.”
During his interview, Zayan revealed another astonishing fact about himself, he is a brilliant writer as well as an artist. In an attempt to get to know more about him, I put forward a couple of questions, exploring his hobbies pertaining to story writing.
I asked, “When did you first realize you were an amazing writer?”.
“I once wrote a story and shared it with my friends and they seemed to appreciate my work so then I wrote a couple more stories and then printed them out and distributed them in my class. Then I got appreciation from whoever reads it, then I got to know that I’m actually a good writer.”, he gladly replied.
“How long does it normally take you to write a story?”.
After a short pause, he said, “It mostly depends on my mood. I finish a story within an hour and sometimes it takes me weeks because of exams or tests but it usually takes me a day or two on normal days of school.”
While we were chatting, Zayan disclosed his passion for haunted story writing. This compelled me to ask my thought out loud, “Why do you mostly write horror stories? Do other genres not excite you?”.
His answer followed, “I do like other genres but I don’t think that I’m good in them because every time someone reads my comedy story or any other story, that person isn’t pleased with it, and the other reason is also that I have more ideas in the horror genre.”
“Who’s your most frequent reader? Any audiences in your family or friends who enjoy reading your work?”
“The most frequent readers are my friends, they read my work and appreciate it. Sometimes they even share ideas with me.”
