Breast Cancer is currently one of the most emerging cancer types in Pakistan, with 90,000 women getting diagnosed every year. So, the students of Grade 11th Global Citizenship decided to focus on the task of raising awareness about the issue that is often considered a social taboo and is mostly frowned upon when mentioned.
The students worked hard with determination to conduct a seminar while distributing distinctive pink-colored ribbons among teachers and fellow students. The successful awareness campaign posters can be found still around the school, inviting students to search up the symptoms and learning about the issue.
The seminar, held on 6th October, took on a roll with Kashmala welcoming everyone to the event. Followed by students describing symptoms, preventions, treatments, and discussing various topics regarding the disease, including NGOs, victim support, etc. The seminar ended with Miss Muddassir Raza narrating the loss of a loved one to cancer and emphasizing the importance of early detection. The audience, teary-eyed, clapped at the end really encouragingly, pledging to spread further awareness and convincing their female relatives to get checked.
The Global Citizenship Community students are also working on an upcoming webinar conducted by medical professionals on 23rd October online. Students and parents have been cordially invited to the webinar.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Global Citizenship Community students welcome you all to celebrate it with them.
