“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” – Stephen King
Since the Sumerians developed writing millennia ago, books have been an essential part of educational settings in one way or the other. When Gutenberg invented his press in 1454, these pages of portable magic flowed from the hands of kings and priests to farmers, soldiers and serfs. Therefore, many historians attribute the evolution of European and global thinking to improved access to books.
The BLA Blog has thus started its own Book Reviews series to further propagate the invaluable habit of book reading among the students of Beacon Light Academy. Welcome to the Book Review series, everyone! Here we shall explore books, both contemporary and classic, encompassing a diverse set of topics, including science-fiction, fantasy, autobiographies, biographies, crime fiction, thrillers etc. Thus we shall be travelling to different worlds with different perspectives- from a Hobbit fighting against the Dark Lord’s Ring to Santiago and his treasure and the miseries of Heathcliff.
The series shall be an interactive one and you the reader, can not only suggest books to us for review, but you can also submit your own reviews to be published here on the Blog.
Join us readers and we shall embark on this exciting journey where we shall meet an entertaining array of characters, ranging from Oliver Twist and the adventurous Kim, to the kings, politicians, generals and poets who once lived in the world we know as ours.
