Realizing How Far I Have Come

It was the second morning of August, when sauntered in the soft white-gold light of the new day and made the hues of the bedroom move from impressionist pastels to brilliant pop art. Her eyes greeted the day shine and her heart and lungs expanded. She quickly shed off the sleep from her brain and she woke up as If it was an emergency. She quickly dragged her body out of bed to begin preparing herself for school. She shook her elder sister awake who slept on her right side of the bed and was busy snoring and after her sister finally woke up, She walked across the dimly lit hall to the bathroom. She stood in front of the mirror and grabbed her toothbrush and began to a white and sparkling perfection.

Her name was Ayesha and She was me, and she was a little too much excited about her first-ever day of school. She pulled on her milky white pair of socks while her mother buttoned her shirt, she had already tried buttoning her shirt before her Mum did, but she failed to slide the button through the slot. My mother glanced at the clock and began to quicken her pace and I was too little to understand the 12 numbers arranged on the circle. After breakfast, my sister started yelling as it was expected so I hurriedly pulled up my new backpack (it was a denim backpack, provided by the school itself, with a name and class slot), and I hung my Dora the explorer water bottle on my neck. My mother quickly took a picture of me in white and pink checks uniform as I smiled widely. We then sat in the car and no doubt I was the happiest kid on this planet on 2nd August 2010. I’ve always wanted to go to school and I was going to one finally! I was always intrigued by the school dress my elder sister wore. So I used to insist on my mother for a school dress. It was one out of a million reasons why I’ve always wanted to go to school.

When I finally reached school, the place which held the future of not only the rest of my high school career but my entire life. I walked into a brand-new place for me for the first time with a bundle of happiness. Around me were kids everywhere, somewhere sobbing, some were wailing while others were happy like me but I can bet I was the happiest amongst them. I said goodbye to my parents and went to my class, where I instantly made a lot of friends, got introduced to my teacher and the day was spent happily. You might be wondering why I’m penning down my first day, today when I sat down to pack my bag for tomorrow, I realized tomorrow is going to be the first day of my last year in beacon Light Academy, a place that made my future for my entire career, the place with which I’ve had a love-hate relationship, the place which has blessed me with beautiful memories that I’ll cherish forever.

This place owns a separate space in my heart. The place where I have grown, I never realized how far I’ve come until today. I’ll forever cherish the memories this school has given me. I’ll remember each and everything may it be
me actively participating in all morning activities to all the Eid Milan parties, from being a part of this school’s silver jubilee to all the sports days we have ever had and let’s not forget me ranting about the school sometimes sitting in a group of friends but always praising it in front of outsiders. Beacon Light Academy has given me so much and I’ll always owe something to it.
