The Great Beach Clean Up 2019

Cordoba school for A-Levels along with the help of FIXIT organized, “THE GREAT BEACH CLEAN UP CONTEST”.

It was a golden opportunity for the students of global citizenship course to test their team working skills as it was their first community project undertaken, under the supervision of Ms Mudassir Raza.

When we reached there, we were all astonished to see that there was a prolific troupe of students body from colleges as well as other schools. I personally thought that we would be the only school there, but I was wrong! Hence, later I realised that we were provided with ID cards for security and identification reasons.

We were also offered basic delicacy of chai and parathas for keeping our strength up, and juices to keep us hydrated throughout the clean up. It was a challenging, yet a great experience for us as only our school collected 91kg of garbage from beach which included 90% plastic. We all were shocked and saddened to see a great amount of plastic there. Indeed our beaches are in danger!

We sacrificed our saturday and worked hard in scorching heat, but felt proud that we have contributed in something which means a lot to our environment and society. A message to all is:

Please keep your environment clean. 71% of earth is covered with water but still it’s drowning in plastic!
